Throwback to Cannes Board Game Festival

Game in Lab was present during the International Board Game Festival at Cannes back in February, the perfect moment to promote board game research with two conferences about putting researchers and research projects on the spotlight.

The conference “What does board game research look like : 3 Game in Lab researchers answer your question” allowed Léa Martinez, Michael Freudenthal and Thomas Franco-Pinto, all Game in Lab PhD researchers, to talk more about their projects, respectively about :

  • board game impact on cognitive function development
  • the role of fiction in leisure
  • Play (and have fun at) “difficult” board games with specific learning troubles

This conference was also the opportunity for our researchers to shed some light about game research by answering the questions asked by the audience about their projects or simply what it means to work on a PhD. The full replay is available below (in French only)

The second conference “Game and creativity : can we develop a creative mind thanks to board games” invited Pr. Todd Lubart, from the Université Paris Cité, and PhD student Maxence Mercier to present the research project of creativity and games axis of the the Homo Creativus research chair, focused on studying the link between creativity and games, supported by the Fondation Université Paris Cité and funded by Asmodee. Replay is also available below (in French only).

If you do not have the time to watch all the conferences, do not worry! You can learn more about those research projects with our short presentation videos available on Game in Lab’s YouTube channel :
